Wednesday

January 16th

Starting a batch of Art O Mat blocks. This series is being done on wooden blocks. The image is of a Victorian Era woman on one side, and  a feather image on the other.
She has a feather in her hair. which ties the two images together.

I am painting with Acrylics. I paint a few at a time, in order to finish a small batch that can be mailed asap.

The block on the bottom row, is my "Master Copy".  A replica of the original sample I submitted to Clark W. at Art O Mat, that was approved. Each of the future blocks I make for this particular series, must, more or less, look like the original idea.

Sunday

January 13

Miss the trash can much? Ok, this is the whirlwind of debris after getting 20 pieces ready to submit to the Folk Tree's Hearts and Flowers Exhibit. Tomorrow is a much needed "Clean the Studio" day.

The  Announcement

Saturday

January 12th

Small painting on wood block.
Figure opening his chest to lay bare his heart.
His head is a skull face...symbolizing the risk, the death of self,  who you were, when you risk "Baring your heart" and the inevitable rejection or pain.

Dog's eye view

Thursday

January 10

TODAY I WAS ADDING LETTERING TO SOME PAINTED CARD STOCK.
DISAPPOINTED TO HAVE SILVER INK PAD DRIED OUT. TIME VS ART SUPPLIES.

Wednesday

January 9th

Spent the morning working on  a skull piece...collaged with hand made papers, acrylic paints on illustration board. Also put the finishing layers on the smaller wooden pieces. I like to add a hidden element on the back of my artwork...image/color/texture....something to surprise the collector.

Monday

One of my Favorite Mugs.....

(Always remember to dip your brush in the WATER cup not the coffee cup)

Sunday

Sunday January 6th

Working on an ACEO

Note the nifty paint surface?A phone book makes a great disposable palette.

Use the top page, then rip and toss for the new clean one below.

Saturday

Saturday January 5th

Peeking into the work area first thing this morning, shows that a little friend made use of a storage basket during the night.

Friday

Friday Jan 4th 2013

I am putting the final touches on a couple small pieces for the "Hearts and Flowers" Exhibit at the Folk Tree Gallery in Pasadena.
I find keeping the Acrylics fresh is a challenge. I keep a spray bottle handy, and try different plastic airtight containers, to keep the paint palette workable.

Thursday

Mat cutting

Reminding myself how to cut  multi opening mats. Framed a photo of my Friend V with her BF Norman Reedus along with an autographed DVD case. Arrow to the heart, hm?

Wednesday

A NEW DAY, A MILLION PROJECTS...
like baby turtles to the sea; which ones will make it?

Tuesday

Back to the Drawing Board!

                                                  2013

The place where it all happens. Well, most of it.

This will be the challenge to show each day what I am up to; what progress,  ponderings, out the window musings, and "up to my elbow messes" during this next year.

A photo record of a year of Art.

With a Cat or two sprawling in the middle of it all, I'm sure.

Welcome to my world.

Sunday

The Year of the Cat (aday)

Here is the final piece for my Cat A Day challenge. I thought I would close with  a collage piece with my favorite Cat T, who I lost in 2011. He was a very frequent model and muse, and is greatly missed.

May you each be loved by a cat.

Thank you for looking at my Cat Drawings for this past year!

Artfully yours,
Imelda
